5/8/13: TOTEMS AND TALISMANS
Well, I fought my first supervillain today, and I have a lot to learn about this superhero gig. I ended up embarrassed, in pain, and barely in control. The Wolf saved my metal skin.
We are still here in Wyoming or Montana, at Loup's reservation. Now we are trying to find either the spirit of some dead shaman or the woman who is helping him. After she lobbed a fireball at Loup yesterday, I'm not so sure I want to find her. But something strange is going on in this town and no one else seems to be trying to stop it.
Loup said he was going for a steam in some magic steambox to talk to his ancestors. If he wanted to ditch me to take a nap he just should have said so. Anyway, while he is off sawing logs I'm going back to the high school to try to see if any of the kids know what is going on. Loup says there is some cult at work around here, and people being brainwashed. Most cults go for the young.
--second entry 5/8/13:
John One Tree just told me his girlfriend was bugging him to go to some special meeting at the school. Loup wants to go to the Casino to chase shadows from a dream, but I convince him to start with an actual clue instead of a heat-stroke-induced hallucination. We find Joanie Two-Trees' house, and arrive just as she and her parents are leaving for this special meeting at the high school. We tag along.

Well, its all over here, and I think we saved the day, no thanks to me. When we showed at the high school, some guards at the doors would not let us into this "meeting." I walked by them but Loup had to fight them. We eventually got in. The meeting as it turns out is in Mr. Ravenhead's room (our missing teacher). So we stroll on up there with the other students, their parents, and anyone else within earshot of this place. They are all acting strange.
When I walk up to the door, the teacher inside the room who was talking to everyone looks at me and points to the others. They all start running for me! Man, it looked like the whole Sioux nation was coming at me, and believe me they were open for business, baby! I started running. I don't think they could have hurt me, but they sure could have broken their hands and feet trying to punch and kick me. I figured getting them out of the way would give Loup a chance to go after the leader.
I took everyone to the Gymnasium. Actually, I ran there with the mob following me. Cleverly (if I say so myself) I went in and ran around until the whole crowd was in the gym with me, then I bolted out the door and magnetically crucned the doors so they would not open. I know, it was a fire safety hazard, but a superhero's gotta do what a superhero's gotta do. I went back later and fixed the doors, so shut up.
Anyway, when I finally got back up to the battle, the teacher and the woman from last night were beating Loup up pretty bad. I jumped in and started after the leader, but he was able to turn me around and get me attacking Loup. I don't know how he did it, but although it was bat to attack my friend, the sensation of control when I was overcome was incredible. All the pain washed away and for a moment I was free of the daily agony I live with. It was glorious.
But the sensation was all too short. Loup managed to pull the talisman off the guy, and he collapsed. The woman grabbed some kind of tiki from around loup's neck and burst into flame.
We won the battle, but the result was me whimpering on the floor for about five minutes. I'm gonna try not to let that happen again. But I'm going to visit this teacher later and ask him about it, for sure.
