5/7/13: THE NATIVES ARE RESTLESS

I tried going back to the mansion to get something to eat tonight, but when I arrived they started yelling again about all the computers going out. I guess they must have lined the walls with lead or something at the before place, cause no one there used to give me such a hard time about it.

Anyway, the Wolf was ushering me kindly out the door when his phone rang (miracle of miracles) and he was called back to Montana or Wyoming or somewhere where his tribe lives to investigate the disappearance of some teacher. He asked if I wanted to come along, and I figured at least he'd get me something to eat, so I said ok.

Well about fifteen hours later, we arrived (bus trips suck, especially when everyone is staring at you, and the bus company makes you pay extra because you weigh as much as about five regular passengers). We stopped in to the sheriff, who told us the man's name was Ravenhair and he was a teacher, and he'd been missing for a few days. He didn't have much more detail than that, which I thought was suspicious.

We went to the guy's house. The wolf gave it the once over, then left. Again, suspicious. I wonder if all the Native Americans (even our Wolf) are in on something). Anyway, the Wolf split pretty quick, to go talk to the neighbor, so I strolled over there. They guy was totally incriminating himself by pretending to know nothing. I cut to the chase and asked if he killed Ravenhair. He said no and slammed the door in our faces. He's my prime suspect at this point.

Anyway, the Wolf split again, and I went back to Ravenhair's house to check it over better without Loup looking over my shoulder all the time. I found a strange gold medallion in the couch cushions, then started reading a bunch of Native American history books while I wait for Loup to realize I'm not with him.

He finally got back hours later, and I showed him the medallion. He put it in a bag and put it in his pocket. Then he said he wanted to check out the high school where Ravenhair taught. I tag along this time.

We got there, and after checking the school paper (they said this Ravenhair was mixed up with something called the Bison Cult, which was bad news), I went up to the Room where he taught, and Loup was there. The room was trashed (did Loup do it?). Just then some nervous girl walks in and looks us up and down, and starts pacing like a caged animal. I could sense her fear, or anger. Definitely some strong emotion towards us.

She left the room and Loup followed her. I got to the doorway and the next thing I know Loup is smashed in the face by a flame sandwich, and he goes flying back into some lockers, on fire. I look over and see this Native American woman in some crazy getup, yelling about "I am the Deer, the bringer of death at night and delight in the morning!" I saw that Star Trek episode, so I started putting up my force field. Whatever this chick was, it was about a crapload of bad news for the Wolf and I, so I figured I'd give him some time to regroup before she flamed him again.

But she didn't want to flame him again. She reached right through my force field and yanked that gold medallion out of his hand, then she disappeared.

We just stood there looking at each other, for a long time.
